Mikey Kile and the Vis Viva team takes home a 6th place finish at the high banks of Bristol Motorspeedway.
On a hot Wednesday afternoon at one of the most sought after race tracks to race, Kile maintained in the top ten most of the morning practices. After qualifying 11th, the entire team was ready to take on the "fastest half mile track".
Caution flag flew early on lap 2 where the Vis Viva team decided to take advantage of the caution and pitted on lap 6 for two left side tires. Complications for the team on pit road caused Kile to loose 14 positions, as the cautions kept coming, so did Kile.
Moving up to the 12th place position by lap 24, Kile ran solid consistent lap times to improve his position to 9th and had a 6 car length over the #6 car of Southern Rookie of the Year, Hunter Robbins.
By lap 75, Kile battled the #29 car of Trevor Bayne and #55 car of Woody Howard for the 6th place spot. Kile knew that time was running out and had to give it all that he and the car had. Crew Chief Tony Lambert reminded Kile to look at the big picture as this was the last Northern points race going into the National Championship Series.
Kile clinched the Northern Rookie title last weekend at South Boston Speedway and went on to finish 3rd in the Northern points standings after his 6th place finish at Bristol. The first of four National Championship races begin on August 30th at Mansfield Motorsports Park.
